Happy New Year

As this year comes to a close, most of us are making resolutions for how we are going to improve ourselves in 2012.  The incoming year represents a fresh slate … an opportunity to start clean and re-make ourselves into an image that is “better” than the one we are leaving behind.  I have made my resolutions for the year and written them down (as I do every year) on a pinboard.  I will look at these resolutions throughout the year, forget perhaps half of them and half-ass the rest (What? I’m a Mistress! I’m entitled to break my own rules).

However, I want you to take a moment … just one … and consider this for me.

Before you agonize over making the usual overblown to-do list of ambitious resolutions, recall the amazing things you did during 2011.  (Yes, you did incredible, personally triumphant things.)

Did you confront a fear? Confess to something you’ve kept a secret? Stand up for someone else?

Before you write down what you are GOING to do, make a list of what you’ve already accomplished.  Brag to your friends. Encourage your friends to do the same so we can all end 2011 knowing that, even in the quietest of ways, we were pretty amazing.
